The Taiwan Affairs Commission stated on June 21 that the Beijing authorities have no jurisdiction over Taiwan, urging the people to not be intimidated by the threats from the Chinese Communist Party. Emphasizing that the Taiwanese people have constitutional rights and freedoms, the Commission stated that the regulations and laws imposed by the Chinese Communist Party hold no power over Taiwan. The Commission warned that Beijing's actions will only fuel tensions between the people on both sides of the Taiwan Strait and hinder positive cross-strait exchanges.
