On June 26, 2024, Minister of Economic Affairs Guo Zhihui led a delegation of Taiwan business leaders to the US to participate in the SelectUSA event. During meetings with US government officials, important associations, industry stakeholders, and congress members, they advocated for swift legislation of the 'Taiwan-US Avoidance of Double Taxation Agreement (ADTA)' and also conveyed the Taiwanese business sector's desire to expand and extend tax deduction benefits. Minister of Finance Zhuang Cuiyun also expressed efforts to promote ADTA in the Legislative Yuan, emphasizing ongoing communication and commitment post-US election. Officials on both sides are optimistic about the legislation's potential to attract more Taiwanese businesses to invest in the US, benefiting from reduced tax burdens and US government support.
