Taiwan and U.S. Initiate First Tariff Discussions

Taiwan has held its inaugural tariff discussions with the United States, aiming to address high tariffs currently affecting its semiconductor industry. In a video conference, Taiwanese officials proposed a zero-tariff regime while discussing reciprocal tariffs and other trade barriers. Both sides expressed interest in further consultations to strengthen their economic relationship amid rising geopolitical tensions with China.
