Recently, in the Beida community in Sanxia, New Taipei City, residents have been experiencing 'aerial attack alerts' not from humans, but from the protected species of Taiwan Blue Magpies. During their breeding season, these birds exhibit nest-protective behavior, causing them to attack anyone perceived as a threat. The attacks have impacted local businesses, with some individuals even getting hit. However, retaliating against these birds is prohibited by wildlife protection laws, with potential fines up to 50,000 NTD or imprisonment for up to 2 years. Residents are advised to be cautious in these 'breeding zones' to avoid being taken by surprise by sudden aerial assaults from these aggressive birds.
