An incident occurred on June 2nd where a fishing boat from Penghu, Taiwan was seized by two Chinese coast guard ships near Kinmen. Despite Taiwan's efforts to have the boat released, it was taken to mainland China. The Taiwanese Coast Guard dispatched three ships to assist and called for the prompt release of the boat to prevent political tensions and damage to cross-strait relations. The boat was seized within mainland China's fishing exclusion zone, and further coordination will be handled by Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council and Fisheries Agency through cross-strait channels. The Taiwanese Coast Guard's attempts to rescue the fishing boat were unsuccessful, and they eventually ceased pursuit to prevent escalation of conflict.
