Taiwan Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) responded to recent media reports criticizing the free quick test distribution to clinics in July. The CDC clarified that they have collaborated with the Taiwan Pharmacist Association and set up over 4,500 distribution points for COVID-19 home quick test kits at National Health Insurance-contracted pharmacies by the end of June, distributing over 8.44 million kits with varying expiry dates. They acknowledged the collaboration with pharmacies and medical institutions in epidemic prevention and disclosed plans to distribute an additional 3 million kits through over 800 medical institutions starting in July. The CDC thanked medical institutions and pharmacies for their assistance in disease control and emphasized the importance of targeted quick test distribution to aid in timely diagnoses for respiratory illnesses.
