As the sixth wave of COVID-19 hits Taiwan with an increasing proportion of the KP.2 variant, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) has confirmed the procurement of 5.5 million doses of the latest version of the COVID-19 vaccine. These vaccines will be administered simultaneously with public flu shots starting on October 1st, prioritizing high-risk groups like the elderly, children, healthcare workers, and others. The KP series of viruses' proportion is on the rise, prompting adjustments in vaccine strains to target the KP.2 variant. The CDC emphasizes the importance of vaccination to reduce severe illness or death risks amid the ongoing pandemic surge.
