Despite earlier statements that there would be no reinstatement of mandatory mask-wearing, the Taiwan Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is urging the public to wear masks in hospitals and healthcare facilities due to the escalating local sixth wave of COVID-19 and rising cases of complications. With the recent surge, the weekly patient visits are projected to surpass 120,000 compared to the usual 100,000, prompting the CDC's rare call for mask compliance. The CDC emphasizes that hospitals and healthcare facilities harbor diverse microbial environments, posing higher risks, especially during flu and COVID-19 seasons, hence advocating for mask-wearing to reduce exposure risks and prevent disease spread.
