On July 8th, Lin Shijie, father of Tainan City Councilor Lin Yi-ting, was ambushed and shot three times by a gunman as he left home in the early morning. The shooter, captured on surveillance camera, fled the scene after the shooting, wearing distinctive clothing. The gunman had been lurking near Lin Shijie's residence before swiftly escaping after fatally shooting him. Police are investigating the incident which resulted in Lin's death and have found bullet casings at the scene, suspecting premeditation. Lin Shijie's daughter, Lin Yi-ting, expressed shock at the normalcy of her father's recent routine. Lin Shijie's past involvement in a bribery case has also been mentioned in reports regarding this tragic event.
