A Taiwanese fishing boat, the 'Da Jin Man 88,' was forcefully inspected and detained by Chinese maritime authorities when it was fishing off the coast of Kinmen. Despite the prompt response from the Taiwanese Coast Guard to rescue the fishing boat and crew, including six individuals being taken to Xiamen, China, they were unable to prevent the Chinese actions. The Coast Guard made attempts to resolve the situation through broadcasts, but eventually had to cease chasing to avoid escalation. This incident, occurring during China's fishing moratorium from May to August, highlights the sensitivity of cross-strait relations. The Taiwanese authorities are coordinating with China to secure the release of the detained individuals.
