On June 29, 2024, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement refuting Chinese Ambassador Luo Huayou's claim that Taiwan is a rebellious regime of China. The statement reiterated that Taiwan is a democratic and sovereign independent country, not subordinate to the People's Republic of China.
