On July 8, 2024, Taiwan Television News reported that the Democratic Progressive Party's Integrity Commission convened an emergency meeting regarding former Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsang. Under the Integrity Law, the commission decided to open an investigation and announced that if Cheng Wen-tsang is proven to be involved in illegal activities and is detained, he will face a three-year suspension. The commission emphasized that public officials should uphold high integrity standards, especially at higher levels of government. If sentenced guilty in the future, further disciplinary action may be taken. The commission also stated that in case of more severe situations, they will conduct a more thorough investigation and impose stricter penalties.
