On June 8, 2024, the Executive Yuan proposed a reconsideration of the Legislative Yuan's 'Exercise of Legislative Powers Act,' including amendments to certain articles and additions to the 'Republic of China Penal Code.' In response, Taiwan's German envoy Hsieh Chih-wei suggested a blue-and-white solution of cabinet overthrow, dissolution, and re-election. This move was criticized by Kuomintang Legislative Yuan caucus leader Fu Kun-chi, who questioned whether Premier Johnung Tai would step down if the reconsideration failed. Premier Tai expressed regret at the possibility and reminded Fu of the option of cabinet overthrow. Should the reconsideration not pass, it would limit Premier Tai's resignation options according to the newly revised constitutional amendments. Hsieh Chih-wei further emphasized the potential for a motion of no confidence and cabinet overthrow if the reconsideration fails, emphasizing that all parties should be prepared to take appropriate action should a constitutional interpretation be approved.
