The temperature in Taitung County's Jinlun soared to 41 degrees Celsius at 1:50 p.m., marking the highest temperature this year so far due to the foehn wind effect, with other areas like Damaoli reaching 39.6 degrees Celsius and Shilin's Shezi in Taipei hitting 39.1 degrees Celsius. The Central Weather Bureau issued high-temperature alerts for 17 counties and cities with warnings of possible thunderstorms in the afternoon. Extreme heat conditions are expected to ease after July 6, but temperatures above 30 degrees will persist. Sun protection and hydration are advised with thunderstorms anticipated in various regions. Orange alerts are in place for Taipei City and Taitung County for possible extreme heat, while other areas have an increased likelihood of continuous high temperatures.
