Taiwan Experiences High Temperatures as Hot as a Furnace

Reported 12 months ago

According to SET News on July 2, 2024, the weather across Taiwan remains scorching hot, with the likelihood of temperatures surpassing 36 degrees in over half of the regions. There are reports of burning winds in the southeastern part, with the highest temperature recorded at 39.3 degrees in Taimali, Taitung. Experts warn of increasing temperatures in the upcoming week, with central and southern regions, particularly in Kaohsiung and Pingtung, possibly experiencing highs of 37 to 38 degrees. The hot weather is attributed to the expansion of warm air caused by the Pacific high pressure system, making Taiwan feel like a furnace and prompting precautions against heat injuries when venturing outdoors. The forecast also predicts minimal rain during this period due to the persistent influence of the Pacific high pressure, with the possibility of typhoon formation not expected until the second half of July.
