Taiwan is sweltering as extreme high temperatures persist, with the Central Weather Bureau predicting a trend towards even hotter summers this year. The Ministry of Health and Welfare reports that 460 people sought medical treatment for heat-related injuries in June alone. Emergency room doctors caution that the elderly are particularly vulnerable to heat-related issues and advise against outdoor activities, especially if they had inadequate sleep the night before. They warn of the risks of heat exhaustion and dehydration, emphasize the importance of staying cool, and highlight the dangers of overheating, especially for the elderly population.
