Amid recent food safety and drug shortage incidents in Taiwan, the Director of the Taiwan FDA, Wu Hsiu-mei, is set to step down at the end of June after serving for 7 years. Chung Sheng-hung, the Dean of the School of Pharmacy at China Medical University, will succeed Wu as the new FDA Director. Wu's tenure was marred by controversies like the Yung Feng Intravenous Solution incident, leading to internal power struggles. The appointment of Chung, a scholar in drug development and molecular biology, aims to address the challenges faced by the FDA.
