According to Taipei Times on June 27, 2024, due to criticism over handling the pandemic, drug shortages, and food safety crises, Wu Hsiu-mei, the director of Taiwan's Food and Drug Administration, is rumored to step down from her position after 7 years by the end of June. It is reported that Chuang Sheng-hong, the dean of China Medical University's School of Pharmacy, will succeed her on July 1st. Chuang, an expert in pharmaceuticals with a Ph.D. from the University of Miami, specializes in new drug development, anticancer drug mechanisms, gene therapy, and molecular technologies.
