On June 27, 2024, Taiwan Fertilizer Co. signed a memorandum of understanding with South Korea's Samsung C&T to collaborate on expanding low-carbon liquid ammonia. Samsung C&T has significant low-carbon ammonia production projects in the Middle East and Australia, as well as a crucial role in carbon reduction in Korea. The alliance will not only help balance domestic liquid ammonia supply but also enhance international competitiveness. Taiwan Fertilizer Co. has imported low-carbon ammonia since 2023 to meet the urgent carbon reduction needs of the semiconductor industry. With a focus on sustainability and carbon reduction, Taiwan Fertilizer Co. aims to play a vital role in Taiwan's semiconductor industry. Samsung C&T, founded in 1938, has ambitious ammonia projects globally, including green ammonia development in Oman and carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects in Australia. Korea's government views hydrogen and ammonia energy as future alternative energy sources, aiming for a 2.1% demand share by 2030. Taiwan Fertilizer Co. has actively engaged with Samsung C&T, exploring business opportunities in fertilizers, chemicals, and hydrogen ammonia energy, leading to the recent collaboration and MOU signing as clean energy partners for sustainable development.
