Taiwan Foundation Chairman Zheng Wencan implicated in corruption and detained without visitation rights, DPP: Hope the investigation will be fair

On July 5th, 2024, Taiwan Foundation Chairman Zheng Wencan was implicated in a land development case and taken in for questioning by the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office, who subsequently determined significant suspicion of corruption, leading to a request for detention and a ban on visitation to the court. This has sparked public discussion. In response to Zheng Wencan's investigation, DPP spokesperson Wu Zheng expressed hope for a fair investigation and a speedy clarification of the truth, emphasizing the principle of no leniency before evidence is established. The case is still under investigation.
