Taiwan Government's First Wave of Prosecutors General Selection: Recommended List of 4 Candidates by Voting Review Committee

Reported 7 months ago

In June 13, 2024, the Ministry of Justice opened two vacancies for prosecutor general positions, where the voting review committee, comprising of 9 voting members, nominated 4 candidates. President Lai Ching-te initiated the selection under his administration, with Minister of Justice Cheng Ming-chien announcing the vacancies and asking the committee to recommend 4 candidates, resulting in nominations of 4 individuals including Chang Hung-mao, Huang Yu-yuan, Wang Chun-li, and Cheng Hsin-hung. This selection process has sparked controversy over transparency and fairness, with concerns raised regarding nominating standards and lack of clarity in the selection criteria, similar to past criticisms from 4 years prior.
