Taiwan Heatwave Continues, 16 Counties on Heatstroke Alert, Rain Expected to Ease from Wednesday

The southwest wind continues to affect Taiwan's weather, with extreme heat of 38 degrees in Taitung County today and 9 counties under orange alert for 36-degree heat, 6 under yellow alert. Central Weather Bureau forecasts mostly cloudy to clear skies with sporadic brief showers in the south during the morning and localized thunderstorms in the north in the afternoon. Temperatures range from 33 to 36 degrees with some areas experiencing over 36, particularly in the western mountainous regions. The heatwave, with Taitung hitting 41.1 degrees yesterday, warns of possible 38 degrees today in the southeast. The outlook for the upcoming week is mostly clear with rain diminishing, except for sporadic showers in the southeast and Kenting Peninsula, and localized thunderstorms in the western areas and mountainous regions in the afternoons. Some areas may still experience temperatures above 33 with 16 counties reaching 36 degrees. Rain patterns will remain similar to today.
