Taiwan's Kuomintang Taoyuan City Councilor revealed that on July 1, Taoyuan Hospital experienced a voltage drop from Taiwan Power Corporation, causing computer and registration system failures, requiring manual registration and damaging major medical equipment. Taiwan Power Corporation confirmed that a squirrel was electrocuted, causing a momentary 10-second voltage drop in the feeder line before returning to normal. Minister of Economic Affairs, Guo Zhichui, emphasized that the issue at Taoyuan Hospital was a power surge, not a power shortage. He also addressed the demand for AI centers in Taiwan versus resistance to building power plants among certain city officials, urging cooperation with Taiwan Power Corporation to meet the increasing electricity demands.
