Taiwan Independence Punishment Regulation Unveiled by China: Ko Wen-je Criticizes 'Timing' and Blames Balancing Act between Blue and White, with Han Kuo-yu as Commander-in-chief

Reported about 1 year ago

Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) Legislative Yuan caucus leader Ko Wen-je criticized China's initiation of legal measures targeting Taiwan independence with new regulations, including the possibility of the death penalty for 'separatists' and the ability to be absent from trial. Ko questioned both blue and white (KMT and DPP) being appendages of China. Ko highlighted the suspicious timing following recent events, accusing the parties of collaborating with China. Ko emphasized the national security implications and urged for an investigation into actions that he perceives as selling out the country, particularly criticizing Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu as the main orchestrator. Ko urged self-reflection among KMT legislators on the alleged betrayals and highlighted the grassroots movement against such actions. Ko dismissed fears of being targeted by China's laws, citing enemy attacks as his badge of honor, dismissing the laws as merely theatrical and provoking greater resistance among Taiwan citizens.
