Reported 11 months ago

On June 9, 2024, scholars and practitioners from Delhi University, Madras University, and the crisis hotline team from Korea visited Taiwan to learn about the progress of gender-based violence prevention in Taiwan and the operation of the 113 hotline. Taiwan has been promoting gender-based violence prevention for over 30 years, with various laws and support systems in place, leading to a decrease in intimate partner violence prevalence to 19.62%. The Ministry of Health and Welfare stated that while international recognition has been received, efforts to change deep-rooted cultural beliefs require sustained work, and tackling digital sexual violence is an urgent issue. Taiwan aims to share its efforts and achievements in gender-based violence prevention with the world to enhance existing prevention measures and create a society with zero tolerance for violence and friendly to victims.
