Taiwan-Japan mixed heritage pitcher Xu Xiangsheng, who graduated from Yingge Commercial & Industrial Vocational High School, signed with the Japanese professional baseball team Yakult Swallows. During his joining press conference today, when asked whether he supported the Chinese or Japanese teams in classic games, he laughed and briefly responded. Standing at 187 cm tall, Xu Xiangsheng, with dual citizenship, was selected by Yakult as the first pick in last year's draft. He revealed his favorite player as the Hanshin Tigers' closer Kyuji Fujikawa and recalled watching the Taiwan-Japan game during the 2013 World Baseball Classic in 5th grade, where he became interested in baseball. Yakult's general manager mentioned discovering Xu Xiangsheng while investigating Sun Yilei last year, expressing hope for his development as a starting pitcher.
