On July 4, 2024, a scheduled review of election law amendments by the Legislative Yuan's Internal Affairs Committee was halted due to conflicts between the DPP and KMT. KMT city councilor Liu Caiwei criticized the DPP for causing paralysis in four committees, arguing that if President Lai Qingde lacks height, then DPP members certainly do as well. Despite numerous important issues, including aboriginal voting rights, the DPP was accused of avoiding discussions, leading to chaos in the legislature.
