In an effort to address talent shortages and enhance industrial competitiveness, Taiwan is focusing on recruiting overseas talent as a key task of inter-agency collaboration. The National Development Council has announced plans to further relax regulations to attract foreign talent, particularly high-level individuals, by potentially allowing those with a master's degree or higher, advanced skills, and a certain income level to apply for permanent residency after just one year. This initiative has received support from the legislative branch, advocating for prioritizing overseas students in Taiwan for recruitment due to their familiarity with the culture and language, with amendments to relevant laws already in progress.
