In response to the Chinese Communist Party's announcement on 'Opinions on Punishing Stubborn Taiwanese Independence Elements for Splittism and Inciting to Commit Crimes of Splitting the Country' released on June 21, Mainland Affairs Council stated that the laws and norms of the CCP have no binding force on the people of Taiwan under the Constitution of the Republic of China. The government urges people to remain calm and not be threatened or intimidated by the CCP. The Mainland Affairs Council emphasized that the actions of the Beijing authorities will only provoke hostility between the people on both sides of the strait, significantly impact cross-strait interactions, and hinder the positive development of cross-strait relations. They also expressed regret over the provocative behavior towards Taiwan and emphasized the fundamental differences in the political systems of both sides.
