On June 25, 2024, Taiwan's Mainland Affairs Council confirmed that a journalist from the Chinese state media Xinhua News Agency had been heavily involved in the production of a political talk show on a local TV station in Taiwan, prompting administrative investigations by the Mainland Affairs Council and the Ministry of Culture. The journalist has since been recalled to China. This incident was revealed during a legislative session where concerns were raised about Chinese influence on Taiwanese media.
