The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council announced on June 27 that due to increasing security laws in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau resulting in cases where Taiwanese citizens were illegally detained or interrogated, they have raised the travel advisory to 'orange'. They advise against non-essential travel to these regions and urge caution due to recent threats by the Chinese Communist Party. The Council recommends avoiding sensitive topics, carrying political materials, and registering travel details with them for safety. Emergency hotlines are provided for assistance if issues arise while in these regions.
