The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council recently announced the elevation of travel alerts for Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau to 'orange,' advising Taiwanese citizens to avoid unnecessary travel to these regions. In response, the Hong Kong government strongly condemned the move, labeling it as a smear campaign against the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law. The Hong Kong government criticized Taiwan for maligning the Hong Kong National Security Law, stating that it exposes Taiwan's double standards. The Taiwan Mainland Affairs Council spokesperson cited recent Chinese Communist Party opinions as a serious threat to the personal safety of travelers to Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau, leading to the decision to raise the travel alert level to 'orange' as of June 27.
