In Taichung, Taiwan, on June 7, 2024, a man in his 50s surnamed Ji committed a robbery at a jewelry store in Dali District. Pretending to buy jewelry, Ji seized the opportunity when the store owner was distracted and stole a gold pendant, then escaped in a taxi for 1.5 hours before being apprehended by the police. The store owner realized the theft only after Ji failed to return, prompting her to report the incident to the authorities.
