On June 12, 2024, the Director of the National Security Bureau, Tsai Ming-yan, confirmed during a legislative session that the National Security Council held an immediate cross-agency coordination meeting in response to a Mainland speedboat directly entering the Tamsui Port. Chaired by Secretary-General Wu Zhaoxie, the President's Office also affirmed discussing and advancing response measures regarding the incident. This incident stirred national security concerns, prompting discussions on strengthening coastal radar, air and sea surveillance, and enhancing maritime border security in the face of potential disturbances.
