To strengthen civil defense forces, Taiwan's Ministry of the Interior plans to expand military training for substitute servicemen from 6,505 people last year to 58,000 people, focusing on basic first aid, disaster prevention, shooting, and introducing penalties for refusal. Lawmakers from different parties support this initiative, emphasizing the importance of defense, civil defense, and mental defense. The training will occur once a year for about 5 days, and additional training post-discharge is also being considered by the ministry.
