To conserve electricity during hot weather, Taiwan Power Company has introduced a new initiative where households with smart appliances combined with a smart meter can allow the company to remotely switch their air conditioners to fan mode or turn them off during peak electricity demand times. Participants can receive a rebate of 10 NT dollars per kilowatt-hour saved, with a trial period from July to November. Although some may find it uncomfortable, many are willing to participate in the program to save money and energy.
