Taiwan Power Company promotes new energy-saving policy; Blue Party legislator claims power shortage will lead to battling with the people

Reported 9 months ago

TVBS news website reported on June 27, 2024, at 8:22 AM that as summer electricity consumption continues to rise, Taiwan Power Company has introduced a residential and commercial energy-saving pilot program where homeowners can remotely turn off their air conditioning for an hour when the electricity load is too high. Kuomintang legislator, Hong Meng-Kai, criticized the policy, questioning if the power supply is so tight that the government needs to compete with the people for electricity. However, Taiwan Power Company emphasized that the measures are 'non-mandatory' and will not affect electricity demand and are similar to practices in other countries.
