President Lai Ching-te's approval rating has dropped to 48.2% a month after taking office, a 9.8 percentage point decrease from the previous month. According to a survey from the Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation, this drop represents a loss of nearly 2 million supporters, signaling a serious warning for the president. Reasons for the decline include unresolved internal issues, ineffective agenda setting, challenges of handling both national affairs and party matters simultaneously, and lackluster performances in the new cabinet facing parliamentary reform challenges. Comparison with former President Tsai Ing-wen's approval ratings shows a similar trend early in term.
