A recent poll revealed that President Lai Ching-te's approval rating dropped by almost 10% within a month of taking office on May 20th. Nationalist Party former legislator Cheng Li-wen attributes this decline to Lai's personality and approach to handling matters, predicting further erosion of his popularity in the future. The Taiwan Public Opinion Foundation's latest survey showed Lai's approval at 48.2%, down by 9.8% from the previous month, indicating a significant loss of support of nearly 200,000 people per percentage point. Cheng warns that Lai's popularity may continue to decline, citing his confrontational nature and controversial decisions as contributing factors.
