Taiwan President to Apply for Constitutional Interpretation on Parliament Reform; Taipei Mayor Hopes President Will Listen to the People

Last week, the Legislative Yuan rejected the Executive Yuan's proposal for parliament reform, leading President Lai Ching-te to announce today that he will apply for a constitutional interpretation and temporary disposal to protect constitutional order and people's rights. Taipei Mayor, Chiang Wan-an, emphasized the importance of the President listening to the public and understanding their needs. Additionally, in response to criticisms from the DPP Secretary-General Lin Yu-chang, Mayor Chiang Wan-an highlighted the majority support for parliamentary reform and criticized the DPP-led government for obstructing reform efforts, indicating the urgency of these changes.
