Taiwan President Tsai's Statement on 'First Battle, Last Battle' Criticized by Ma's Office: People Don't Need a Provocative President

Reported 8 months ago

President Lai Ching-te attended the centennial anniversary of the Whampoa Military Academy, stating his rejection of the concept 'first battle, last battle,' which drew criticism from Ma's Office. Lai's speech highlighted the need for a president who avoids war rather than one who incites conflict, with Ma Ying-jeou Foundation Executive Director Hsiao Hsü-tsên responding that the people desire a president who works towards peace and prosperity, not one who brings the nation to the brink of war. Hsiao also criticized Lai for prioritizing personal Taiwan independence aspirations over national interests and the welfare of the people.
