On June 21, 2024, at 9:24 am, Taiwan Railways' northbound Train No. 229 heading to Hualien derailed between 'Chongde-He Ren' after hitting falling rocks, with driver Chen Junliang suffering a bleeding bone fracture and receiving medical treatment. Later on the same day, a landslide occurred near kilometer 51 on the westbound line of 'He Ren=Chong De', affecting a train in the area. Due to delays exceeding 2 hours for Train No. 229, passengers were entitled to a full refund upon arrival. Taiwan Railways is working tirelessly on repairs post-derailment.
