Taiwan Rail Ticket Prices Unchanged for 29 Years, Cheaper than MRT and Bus; Minister Lee Meng-yen Admits Room for Adjustment

Reported about 1 year ago

Transportation Minister Lee Meng-yen acknowledged that Taiwan Rail ticket prices have not been adjusted for 29 years, revealing that there is indeed a tendency towards lower prices compared to MRT and bus fares. For example, the fare from Taipei to Banqiao is only 15 NT dollars on Taiwan Rail, which is cheaper than the 25 NT dollar MRT and 30 NT dollar bus fares. Lee mentioned that with the faster commuting speed, there is room for review and adjustment in ticket pricing, which will be presented for examination following due process.
