336 Taiwan Railway Union members faced disciplinary actions after participating in the 2017 Chinese New Year 'Legally Off Work' campaign and failing to report to work on designated shifts. The Taiwan Railway Union sought to challenge the actions, resulting in the Taipei High Administrative Court ruling in favor of the employees, deeming the railway's practices as improper labor behavior. The court highlighted that employers should not assume consent from employees to work on statutory days off without obtaining explicit prior individual agreement, emphasizing the workers' rights and the need for fair and reasonable working conditions. The case can still be appealed.
