Reported 8 months ago

The Taiwan High-Speed Rail has 12 stations, and Chiayi Station has consistently low passenger volume. Local authorities are hoping to build a branch line connecting the Taiwan Railway Chiayi Station and the Taiwan Railway Tianzhong Station to attract more passengers. The Ministry of Transportation expressed its full support for transportation development in the Chiayi area, emphasizing that an efficient interconnection system can shorten travel times and boost economic growth. Plans for the branch line are in progress, with the basic design approved in May and early construction scheduled for October, focusing on station refurbishment and expanding rail services to enhance the surrounding area's development potential.
