Legislator Claudius Hong of the Kuomintang party questioned on Facebook why the surveillance system did not issue a warning within 19 minutes when the track of the Taiwan Railway was flooded by debris flow on June 21. Hong pointed out that the surveillance footage revealed a nearly 19-minute window for early warning and response that, if properly executed, could have prevented the disaster. He criticized the repeated 'low-level oversights' in causing transportation accidents and emphasized the need for effective execution and adjustment. Hong praised the bravery of the train driver for risking injury to apply the emergency brakes but stressed that reliance on last-minute human reactions could not enhance Taiwan's railway safety; instead, he highlighted the importance of implementing measures and responsibilities at the administrative level.
