A Taiwan Railway new Taroko Express train derailed after hitting falling rocks in the Qingshui Tunnel in Hualien on June 21. Hualien County Commissioner Xu Zhenui arrived to provide assistance and urged the central government to ensure a safe journey back home for Hualien residents. The accident resulted in 15 injuries, including the train conductor suffering a hand fracture. The incident occurred close to the site of the 2021 Taroko Express train accident that claimed 49 lives, highlighting the transportation safety concerns in the region.
