Taiwan Railways Considers Fare Increase After 29 Years with Ministry of Transportation Responding

Reported about 1 year ago

The Ministry of Transportation has set a target punctuality rate of 97% for Taiwan Railways this year. Minister of Transportation, Meng-Yan Li, mentioned that a moderate fare increase would help improve punctuality, service, and operational quality. The Ministry is currently reviewing various proposals put forward by Taiwan Railways, considering factors such as operating costs and sustainability. Additionally, a court ruling found that Taiwan Railways' actions against 336 employees who did not work on New Year's Eve or Lunar New Year were deemed illegal, requiring appropriate remedies to be made based on labor laws and legal interpretations.
