Taiwan Railways Corporation's (TRC) new R200 diesel-electric locomotive has received independent verification and certification IV&V certificate from the German third-party professional organization DEKRA, successfully passing functional safety verification and officially entering operation in mid-June. The stringent testing and adjustments undergone by the R200 locomotive from design, manufacturing to delivery to Taiwan for a year were verified and certified by DEKRA to meet international standards, ensuring operational and safety objectives are met. TRC General Manager Feng Huisheng expressed that the R200 locomotive, TRC's first purchase of a European high-performance diesel-electric locomotive, will significantly improve freight transport safety and efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and increase the satisfaction of freight operators. DEKRA Taiwan Managing Director Li Junyi congratulated TRC on the successful launch of the R200 diesel-electric locomotive, ensuring project goals, safety, and quality requirements are met through third-party verification and certification, maintaining independence and adherence to international standards.
