On July 1, 2024, a mudslide submerged the tracks between HeRen and ChongDe on the Taiwan Railways Hualien section. The eastbound line was cleared first yesterday morning, and the westbound line was repaired this morning, restoring dual-track operation. Trains are now passing through three disaster areas at a reduced speed of 30 km/h. The mudslide also affected the SuHua Highway, disrupting transportation. The restoration work was completed by the Hualien Engineering Department. The Taiwan Railways Company ensured safe passage for trains by slowing down at the affected sections.
